Space for art

The mission of art is multifaceted and not limited to a single purpose. Art can be used to express emotions, explore reality, stimulate imagination, foster empathy, and connect people. At its core, art seeks to enrich the human experience by providing aesthetic pleasure, personal fulfillment, and a deeper understanding of the world.

About me

Alejandro Stock, multidisciplinary artist.

Alejandro Stock Silberman I am a Uruguayan-Spanish artist. I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1965, of Russian descent on my mother’s side, Lidia Silberman, and Austrian on my father’s side. Since 1993, I have lived and worked in Spain, between Madrid and Gran Canaria, with bases in Paris and Manhattan. From an early age, I felt a strong artistic vocation, joining my first art studio at the age of 5. Since then, I have undertaken numerous artistic and painting studies with master Nelson Ramos at the Center for Artistic Studies, as well as participating in various courses, scholarships, and workshops in Uruguay, the United States, and Spain. Today, I work both as a doctor and as an artist.

My Artistic Résumé

"Artistic Career"

Mr. Stock
Artist

Recurring themes in his work include memory, learning, the human being, love, forgiveness, language, the search, and transformation. He employs a simple cosmogony to articulate these concepts, exploring genetic and migratory memory, as well as the layering of elements as metaphors for society.
Social and Cultural Commitment In addition to his artistic career, Stock has worked as a cultural manager, building bridges between Uruguay and Spain across various artistic disciplines. His work also reflects a strong commitment to ecology and anthropology, incorporating elements of nature and culture into his creations.
His works are part of major public and private collections in countries such as Spain, Uruguay, the United States, Israel, France, Chile, the United Kingdom, and China. He has also carried out interventions on everyday objects—such as letters and envelopes—transforming them into artistic pieces that engage in dialogue with their surroundings.

Brief Artistic Overview

Alejandro Stock has held more than 120 group and solo exhibitions in Uruguay, Spain, Hong Kong, Germany, Hungary, the United States, Chile, and beyond. He has been selected, nominated, and awarded over forty times both nationally and internationally, in fields ranging from painting and sculpture to literature, photography, and the performing arts, including cinema and theater. Parallel to his artistic career, he has also managed various cultural initiatives, building bridges of communication and intercultural dialogue between Spain and Latin America. Writing is another expressive medium for him, both as a creative form in itself and as integrated text within his works. He has also collaborated and contributed as a columnist in various media outlets, offering opinion and constructive cultural critique within the broader world of arts and entertainment.

Among his key projects are: “Genetic Memory”, at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Salto, exploring the origin of integrated societies through South American immigration, his own heritage. “So Much Time”, focused on social change and the redefinition of the concept of “time” in a fast-moving world. “The Beautiful and the Profane”, a mural tribute to the moderns and the artistic pathways they opened, allowing today’s artists full creative freedom. “To Hurt, To Lose, To Love”, addressing love as a gateway through pain, aiming to resolve a needed process of integration.

He is currently working on “Migrant Memory” (since 2003), an interdisciplinary project comprising over 500 sculptures, paintings, literary texts, and spatial interventions—offering a personal and collective perspective on the integration process. Partial presentations took place at Roberto Resino Gallery in Madrid (March–April), in Lleida (May 2007), and a broader exhibition is scheduled for June 1st at the Xunta de Galicia Exhibition Center in Lugo.

Alejandro invites viewers to explore the complexity of cultural memory, humanity’s relationship with the environment, and the constant search for meaning in an ever-changing world.

His artistic style blends traditional and contemporary techniques. Through his works, Stock uses a wide range of materials—from painting and sculpture to multimedia installations. His art explores the relationship between humans and their surroundings, addressing identity and belonging with a unique sensitivity. His vibrant color palette and dynamic compositions invite viewers to reflect on their own connection to the world. More than aesthetic, his work seeks to provoke critical dialogue on social and cultural issues.

His works not only reflect a deep connection with identity but are also profoundly influenced by his background in medicine and psychoanalysis. His artistic approach is an introspective journey inviting the viewer to explore the complexity of cultural memory and the human condition, fusing psychological insight and anatomical understanding with an acute aesthetic sensibility.
His medical studies have given Stock a unique perspective on human vulnerability and resilience, which manifest emotionally and physically in his work. Simultaneously, his psychoanalytic training allows him to explore themes of the unconscious, perception, and internal conflict, turning art into a medium for dialogue between the individual and their deepest experiences.
Thus, his creations go beyond the visual realm, becoming reflections on the human condition in a world of constant transformation, where every brushstroke and color becomes a vehicle for introspection and connection. Through his work, Stock invites not only aesthetic contemplation but also critical reflection on identity, memory, and the meaning of our shared experiences.”

Everything is Interconnected

From an early age, Alejandro Stock was immersed in an environment that nurtured his passion for art, thanks to the influence of his grandfather—a passionate collector who taught him about art history, the importance of exhibitions, and the subtleties of collecting. Together, they explored art markets and auctions, where Alejandro learned to trace artworks and uncover hidden treasures, sparking an insatiable curiosity to understand the value and narrative behind each piece.
His mother, a trained psychoanalyst, brought an introspective dimension to his artistic development. Through deep conversations and her understanding of the human psyche, Alejandro learned to explore emotions and internal conflicts in his work, integrating psychology as a central element of his creative process. This blend of family influences allowed him to develop a unique, enriched approach that intertwines art with a humanistic understanding.
